A Tigers Field Trip

One chilly November Sunday, the Norfolk Blood Bikes team took a number of their Triumph Tigers back to the factory where they were built.

Volunteers from all over the county met up at several rendezevous points to complete the journey from Norfolk to Hinkley in Leicestershire in convoy.

Arriving at the factory was quite a spectacle for both the team at the factory as well as the many members of the public who had also come for a day out at the award winning Triumph Factory Visitor Experience.

8 out of 10 Tigers prefer a day out.

The other 2 stayed at home in Norfolk.

We still had five volunteers on call, ready to respond to our hospitals needs.

Gulliver, the NBB mascot, couldn’t resist getting involved.

An obligatory visit to the 1902 Café for a drink and a bite to eat was swiftly followed by a thorough look around the exhibition. Featuring bikes from Triumph’s long history as well as many of the newer models starring in Hollywood movies the exhibition is a real treat for petrolheads and film buffs.

A trip to the beating heart of the Trimph brand wouldn’t be complete without a browse of the gift shop. Luckily for the blood bike volunteers there was a sale on, but needless to say many pennies were seperated from their previous owners in return for some exciting new purchases.

A little later the group joined Peter from the Triumph Factory Visitor Experience team who took great pleasure in giving our volunteers an extended, personalised tour of the factory floor. From forging the engines, to designing the next models, hand fininshing the paintwork and building the bikes one by one, the team were able to walk away with a new found admiration for the work of all the technicians, designers and crafts people who help make these awesome machine come to life.

We’ll never look at out Tigers the same again.

A brilliant day out. Thanks Triumph. We’ll be back, for sure!
