Current fleet

With over 2000 square miles to cover, our hard working fleet of motorcycles and cars need to be reliable and well maintained in order to remain constantly ready for duty.

Our current fleet

All our vehicles are obtained via the generosity of our donors.  In some cases they are purchased using the funds raised from multiple sources and in others they are from a single benefactor.

Over the years NBB has had a variety of vehicles, from different sources.  As with any vehicle based service we have a constant need to maintain an efficient fleet.  Vehicles are replaced as and when needed to ensure their reliability.

NBB differs from some other Blood Bike groups in that our Riders to use the charity’s liveried motorcycles when on duty.  However, it is quite common for Members to use their own cars when the need dictates.

Wherever possible, motorcycles will be used, due to their greater flexibility in traffic. However, there is a limit to what a bike can carry, so when there is a need for multiple boxes or when the temperature drops below safe limits for our riders, we will use cars.

Brief details of the vehicles in our current fleet and their donors are shown below.

Faith, Hope & Charity

Donor: Norfolk Freemasons

In May 2018 Norfolk Freemasons donated three motorbikes. It followed an appeal that was launched one year earlier with the aim of raising enough money to buy one new bike. Nine months later, they presented NBB with not one, but three motorcycles . Each bike cost around £15,000 and Freemasons Lodges throughout Norfolk raised the money from lodge meetings, social events, auctions and personal donations.

An Ambush of Tigers

In 2022 Yamaha ceased production of the FJR 1300 in Europe. This motorcycle had been the workhorse for the police and many Blood Bike charities for 20 years.

With demand on our service having grown significantly over the last five years and an increased number of volunteers covering the county, the charity needed to establish a replacement model.

Thanks to the support of Norfolk Family business, Lings Motor Group, we were able to test and try bikes from the Triumph range and configure the new Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Pro to be our new vehicle of choice.

This powerful adventure tourer class motorcycle has many safety and comfort features that benefit our volunteers as well as a proven capacity for travelling long distances with a precious cargo.
