20,000 tasks ✔️

Since the service, as we know it, started in 2011, demand on Norfolk Blood Bike’s volunteers has grown year after year.

In our first full year, we completed 581 tasks moving blood, blood products, samples and equipment across the county to help the NHS.

Since then, we have been able to support several additional organisations with our zero-cost emergency courier service.

Norfolk Blood Bikes now uplift and deliver donated breast milk to help premature babies in Neonatal Intensive Care. For the last few years we have also supported the East Anglian Air Ambulance with daily deliveries of fresh blood to the helicopter and road units.

With these extra services and increasing demand from the hospitals it is no surprise that the volunteers are now fulfilling 2440 tasks each year. That’s almost 7 every 24hours.

On the evening of 16th November 2024, the 20,000th task was performed with the delivery of fresh stock of blood to the team at the Air Ambulance marking a significant milestone for the charity and their team.
